Aaron Massingham

Aaron Massingham– Web Developer

I'm a creative designer and developer. I help build brands and websites for those looking to create a platform for marketing their product.

Overview

I'm new around here but not new to the creative industry! I have over a decade of experience working with individuals and businesses to help build brands and online hubs ready for marketing. I'm looking to work with people on exciting projects within the health & fitness industry. As a side note: I also have a passion for plants, trees and fungi, so if you're an author working with nature, I'd love to hear from you!

How am I different?

Every project is unique to my client's needs. No templates or site builders used. I limit myself to three projects at a time to remain personable, punctual, and available. I commit to going above and beyond to bring your idea to life. I use animation effectively for engaging web experiences, from hover effects to immersive interactivities.

How do I work?

Ideation & Planning:

我们的孩子们l discuss and brainstorm to create a unique plan for your website, including content hierarchy, color schemes, and animation.

Wireframing:

Based on our meeting notes and brief, I'll produce wireframes and prototypes for all unique pages on your website to illustrate my creative direction.

Design:

Once wireframes are approved, I'll design all pages and endpoints, ready for your review.

Development:

Using React and frameworks like Next JS for scalability, I'll develop your website, which can be easily edited with WordPress or another CMS.

The Result:

Your website will be responsive, visually pleasing, and high-performing on website analysers like PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix, ensuring accessibility, SEO readability, and best practices.

What do my clients think?

"We took on Aaron to revamp our gym website which was approaching 3 years old, and needed a complete refresh having originally being built by us. After giving a single page brief, we awaited initial design options, and when they came in, immediately knew we had made the right choice in off loading the project to a professional. We knew we could trust his artistic direction completely, and after we had confirmed our more detailed requirements, we had very little critical input left to do..."

Tony, Graft Haus

"My old website was looking a bit ratty and something had happened to my WordPress which broke it completely at one point, leaving me without a site at all. Aaron helped where he could with the issue and eventually managed to get it back online for me. He suggested that I separated the website from WordPress to stop issues like this happening in the future and I decided to go for a full rebuild because the old site was getting pretty old. I already knew that Aaron had what it takes to help me out because he'd worked with me on a couple of other side projects in the past, so I knew I could trust his judgement..."

Projects

Pendle Plant Craft

Pendle Plant Craft is a non-profit community driven project with a focus on sharing knowledge on nature, foraging, and social inclusion. As a committee member, I have take responsibility of growing and maintaining their brand and online presence.

The project is young but we're all working together to create something great!

Lower Park Marina

Bespoke, fully responsive Gatsby JS Static Site with content powered by WordPress for a marina in Lancashire, UK.

Vitfor

Vitfor were planning a complete redesign and rebuild of their web app and website when they brought me on board to assist with the design aspect of the project, eventually leading to the opportunity to develop the website.

Being the lead designer on a web app and having the opportunity to collaborate with a team as a freelancer was a first for me; I look forward to lending my hand with further development with the Vitfor team as the project grows.

Wayne Anthony's Barbershop

Wayne's barbershop website had been active almost as long as I'd been in the creative industry. His old website was a heavily bloated, off-the-shelf theme with lighthouse scores that made my eyes water. And I won't mention the number of times the previous site went offline due to internal errors.

Wayne prides himself on offering an exclusive experience to his clients, so it goes without question that the new website followed the same groove. Within the modest budget for this project, I went above and beyond to bring the right vibe to his online presence, and even included some SnipCart functionality while I was at it,

Graft Haus

The guys over at Graft Haus gym in Leeds had pushed their off-the-shelf WordPress template website to the limit, so they required something more bespoke. The old site was starting to show some display issues, not to mention an endless ream of plugins that were beginning to cause some security concerns.

Tony handed me the reigns and I got to work reviewing what aspects and functionality the current site had that were of value, plus new features that would be useful. I got to work producing wireframes and designs for their review. We had a couple of meetings to discuss any alterations before I moved swiftly on to the development phase. The new site (launched in 2020) is fully responsive and utilises Advanced Custom Fields to give the team more granular control over their content without worrying about fiddling around with how the content looks.
